Jane has traveled to Asheville, North Carolina to oversee the security for a vamp get together. Apparently, the Asheville vamps want to establish their own clan but they are under Leo’s rule. He has to give his permission. Then some campers are attacked. Some people want to blame the vamps but it is obvious to Jane that this is the work of werewolves. Things quickly get out of hand and she has to be head of security as well as investigate the attacks. To top it off, Jane’s best friend, Molly and her sisters are acting very strange. It is all Jane can do to keep up with everything. Could all these events be connected somehow or does Jane just have bad luck? I have been a big fan of the Jane Yellowrock books since the beginning. For me, the hardest reviews to write are about the books that I love. Especially when those books are part of a series and they just keep getting more awesome. But in my opinion, Faith Hunter is on my list of the top 10 urban fantasy writers today. Her use of Native American mythology, vampire and werewolf lore, and her fabulous imagination has created an iconic character and a unique series! I’m pretty sure I spent most of the book with my mouth hanging open thinking “Whoa, didn’t see that coming”. Raven Cursed had Jane juggling a lot of things: helping the police, doing her job, and helping Molly, as well as Rick. Jane is a capable, smart, and tough woman but she can’t be in two places at once. In the end, when push comes to shove, she takes the only action she can, even though the ramifications end up being devastating. Raven Cursed was amazing and I can give it nothing less than 5 stars!
