Sins of the Soul

Book 2 in the Otherkin trilogy

Sins of the Soul by Eve Silver follows the second of Sutekh’s sons, Alastor Krayl, as he searches for the murderers of his brother Lokan. The search brings him into contact with the enigmatic Naphre’ Kurata, whose heritage makes her a daughter of Astet but her upbringing has inculcated teachings from her Japanese father and grandfather. Alastor is determined to make no other ties to his heart other than the bond he has for his three brothers yet he is strangely attracted to Naphre’, even after he discovers that she may be implicated in Lokan’s death. The abrupt termination of the relationship between Naphre’ and the assassin who mentored her sends her world into a tailspin and is further complicated by the appearance of the suave, British-accented soul reaper named Alastor. Somehow, several of the gods of the Underworld seem to be interested in Naphre’ and Alastor gradually realizes that he is not willing to sacrifice her as a pawn in the ongoing struggle for power until he determines just what she means to him, even if he has to defy both his father and the goddess Izanami-no-mikoto while he figures it out.

Another sizzling addition to the Otherkin series that adds depth to the storyline while introducing new partners and other gods in the complex network of the Underworld pantheon. Alastor is a suave counterpoint to his brothers and there is a tantalizing glimpse of Malthus and his own intriguing style. Ms. Silver continues to create interesting pairs of likeable characters without becoming repetitive as she slowly spins out the investigation into the horrendous murder of Lokan while exploring the sensual courtships between strong-willed beings.

Sworn to Duty. Bound by desire.

Alastor Krayl’s world shattered when he learned that his father was the Underworld god of chaos and evil. All that saved him from self-destruction were his newfound brothers and the bond they shared as soul reapers. So when one of his brothers is murdered, vengeance becomes Alastor’s obsession. And the enigmatic Naphré Kurata, a witness—or is she the killer?—has the answers he seeks.

A reluctant Underworld enforcer, Naphré trusts no one, especially not a seductive soul reaper who makes her burn with lust. Torn between duty and desire, she fights to keep her secrets safe from Alastor, even as she longs to surrender.
