Love in a Nutshell

Kate Appleton is in trouble. She has just lost her job at Bagger's Tavern and is in desperate need of funds to renovate her family's home, The Nutshell, into a budding bed and breakfast. So, here she is at Matt Culhane's Depot Brewing Company, trying to convince him that he should offer her a job. Matt is intrigued by the beautiful blond that has barged into his office and he agrees to give her job with the exception that she is to act as a spy on his behalf. Someone has been sabotaging Matt's business and the incidents are starting to escalate in severity.

As the two start to work together, Matt and Kate develop feelings for one another that go beyond a normal work relationship. Soon Kate becomes a target for the saboteur and they must hurry to find the culprit before it becomes more than Matt's business that is at stake.

I've been a fan of Janet Evanovich's "Stephanie Plum" series for years and I was excited to get my hands on this novel. This book was a breath of fresh air for me. The characters were well-developed and fascinating while the story was a laugh-out-loud romp through the beer brewing business. I adored Kate and her quirky personality which made this book a delight and was sad to see this story come to an end. This was a great light-hearted romance.

Book Blurb for Love in a Nutshell

A sparkling novel of romantic suspense, small-town antics, secretive sabatage, and lots and lots of beer. Recently divorced and unemployed, Kate Appleton retreats to her parent's summer house, The Nutshell, in Keene's Harbor, Michigan. She plans to turn The Nutshell into a bed and breakfast, but she's strapped for cash, and the only open job in town is at the local brewery.

Brewery owner, Matt Calhane believes someone has been sabotaging his company, and Kate is just new enough in town that she can insert herself into Culhane's business and snoop around for him. If Kate finds the culprit, Matt will pay her a $20,000 bonus. Needless to say, Kate is highly motivated. But several problems present themselves. Kate despises beer. No one seems to trust her. And she is falling hard for her boss.

Can these two smoke out a saboteur, save Kate's family home, and keep a killer from closing in...all while resisting their undeniable attraction to one another?
