Torn

Trylle Novels, #2

Wendy is a Changeling. Rhys is the human child that she was switched with. In this installment in the Trylle story, Wendy feels that Rhys should meet Matt who is his biological brother, the brother that she grew up with. So Rhys and Wendy leave the Trylle Palace where her birth mother is the Queen and go to see Matt.

Their visit with Matt is cut short when Finn who is Wendy's tracker shows up and tells her they are in danger from the bad trolls called the Vittra. She knows this but wants to lead a normal life and is still mad at Finn for leaving her and walking all over her feelings for him. Wendy basically tells Finn that he can take a flying leap as he hurt her and she didn't think he cared about her and she wanted to live her own life and could take care of herself.

So Finn leaves with Duncan who is Wendy's current tracker. She doesn't even get comfortable back in bed before she hears a loud noise from downstairs and Matt yell and then be quiet too quickly. Before she knows what is going on she is attacked by Kyra a female Vittra tracker who has already attacked her once and gets beaten up.

The next thing she knows she wakes up with Matt and Rhys in what looks like a dungeon. They have been kidnapped by the Vitra. She can't believe that Finn and Duncan would let this happen as they had just left and had to have seen the Vittra.

While with the Vittra she meets Loki, who is the same as a prince. He is kind to her and even goes and gets the VIttra Queen to come and heal Wendy from Kyra's beating. After she is healed she is taken to see the Vittra King, who ends up telling her a major surprise. While with the Trylle she begins to start really opening her eyes to the people of this kingdom, and even comes to see her mother as a person and not just a cold hearted Queen. She also sees the cost that they all pay to use their powers.

She is caught in a power struggle. She finds that she really wants to help the Trylle and has decided she will stay and rule there. She starts training to learn how to use her powers and make them stronger. She ends up in a "love" triangle when she feels that Finn still has feelings for her, she starts having feelings for Loki, and Tove who is training her with her powers who she likes and who everyone feels will be a good match for her to help her rule the kingdom. Tove asks her to marry him for the kingdom, even though they don't love each other, they feel it will be best for the kingdom. But how can she marry someone when she has feelings for someone else? Should she be true to her kingdom, or true to her heart?

Who will she choose to be with Finn, Loki, or will she marry Tove just to have help in ruling the kingdom as he would be the best choice? Even if they don't love each other? This book will keep you reading.

Anything else:

I loved this installment, almost more than the first book. I can't wait for the next one. I really loved how she had the bonus at the end to get to see other's point of view about the whole situation. It was very interesting. This book will keep you reading from cover to cover and still be thirsting for more!!

You will like this book if you are interested in anything that are like fairy tales with trolls, fairies, etc. I think this book takes you deeper into that world.
