Eerie

Eerie, #1

Eerie is a bit different than other books. The author not only gives you a dark eerie suspense, but it's funny too. The book will have you on the edge of your seat throughout. You may find yourself looking over your shoulder at any little sound and then smiling because you were such a scaredy cat. I couldn't help but smile at the clothes that moved, but there was no one wearing them.

Our dear Hailey, you got to love her but she has a friend of the non-human sort. She always seemed to have good relationships with most everyone. But then we get to the romance part, oh boy! Dysfunctional doesn't quite cover it. It's dangerous when you have a purple eyed hunk of a man after you, yes purple eyes. Asher loves Hailey and yet wants to kill her. I would suggest Hailey get far, far away from him. I admit he's really weird, but he can be romantic too.

But Asher isn't the only jerk, there is also Finn. He's a woman's man and is also wanting to kill Hailey. Men attracted to Hailey seem to have multiple problems. Will Hailey end up with either of these men? I personally hope not. It seems that she doesn't really need a man in her life right now, especially these two.

Now we get to the point. Why does Asher want to kill Hailey? In order the release the trapped Envoys, the Aether has to be opened and that means a human must die. Hailey had seen the Envoys years before when her parents died. Now she sees them in her nightmares.

Hailey's life goes from bad to worse, her sister Holly goes missing. The dark goes darker. Secrets are being kept. Is this for Hailey's good or not?

The author has done something which is rather unusual. The main character is extremely unlikable, which may make readers dislike the book from the beginning. You also get the main woman who isn't that little, woe is me, what will I do character girl. It refreshing for a change. That took a little nerve, to step out on the unknown and hope for a success. Bravo to the author. This author stepped out on the limb and that limb didn't break. The book came through and you not only get a paranormal world but characters that will fill you with all kinds of emotions. If you love paranormal with everything that goes with it, just make sure you have enough time to devote to reading this. Once you start Eerie you can't stop.

Book Blurb for Eerie

Hailey's dreams have always been, well...vivid. As in monsters from her nightmares follow her into her waking life.

When her big sister goes missing, eighteen-year-old Hailey finds the only thing keeping her safe from a murderous 3,000-year-old beast is an equally terrifying creature who has fallen "madly" in love with her. Competing to win her affection, the Dream Creature, Asher, lures her to the one place that offers safety--a ParaScience university in Alaska he calls home. There, she studies the science of the supernatural and must learn to live with a roommate from Hell, survive her ParaScience classes, and hope the only creature who can save her from an evil immortal doesn't decide to kill her himself.
