To read a Rebecca Zanetti novel, I would sacrifice sleep, miss a meal, and ignore my internet. So I couldn't wait to read part 3 in her Scorpius Syndrome series and even tried to read "Justice Ascending" over a few days to prolong my enjoyment because Rebecca can write a great story with complex world building and fascinating characters.
This post-apocalyptic world is unlike any other series. It's not just the good guys battling one set of enemies, there is danger coming at them from all angles which heightens all their actions and emotions between the couples. There are staples to this series: the hero is always a bad boy alpha; the heroine is always a smart female who does her own part to make the world a little better; and there is danger at every corner. I'm not such a fan of their sexual preferences (spanking) but I can easily skip those pages. There is always genuine love between the characters and that is all that matters to me.
It’s almost ironic to say that a series with such an apocalyptic setting is full of endless possibilities. There are so many couples to root for: Maureen and Greyson, Alice and Damon, and Penelope and Marcus. I want to read all their stories and more from this amazing series.
Before surviving the Scorpius bacterium, Tace Justice was a good ole Texas cowboy who served his country and loved his mama. After Scorpius, the world became dark, dangerous, and deadly—and so did he. The Vanguard medic is stronger, faster, and smarter than before, but he’s lost the line between right and wrong. His passion is absolute, and when he focuses it on one woman, there’s no turning back for either of them…
Sami Steel has been fighting to survive right alongside Tace, convincing the Vanguard soldiers she’s one of them. In truth, Sami is a former hacker turned government agent who worked at The Bunker, where scientists stored both contaminants and cures. Only she knows the location, and she’s not telling. Yet when sexual fire explodes between her and Tace, she’ll face even that hell again to save him.
