More From My Favorite Series - Melting Pot
I’ve been kinda snowed under with work since – like – March, so I’ve been a bit out of the loop on new releases from my favorite authors. Discovering that Matt Wallace had a new Sin du Jour Affair novella released in May was one of the highlights of my second quarter. Then I saw that I’d missed his February release…now I had TWO yummy fun books to buy and distract me from my work woes!
Let me tell ya, they don’t disappoint. Mr. Wallace’s unique brand of foodie humor mixed with magic and adventure continues to shine like newly scrubbed copper pots! Idle Ingredients picks up just after the events in Pride’s Spell. As a reader, it was interesting to see the aftermath and character emotions after surviving attacks by demonic versions of Santa Claus and the Easter bunny.
The series is so well written that you could pick up any book and start reading, however I recommend that you start with book one (Envy of Angels) to fully appreciate the characters, their backstories, and the lush world the Sin du Jour cast inhabits.
Idle Ingredients: A Sin du Jour Affair by Matt Wallace
"Hilarious, raucous ? and leaves you literally hungry." ?The Washington Post
Catering for a charismatic motivational speaker, the staff of the Sin du Jour catering agency find themselves incapacitated by a force from within their ranks. A smile and a promise is all it took.
And for some reason, only the men are affected. It’s going to take cunning, guile and a significant amount of violence to resolve.
Another day of cupcakes and evil with your favorite demonic caterers.
Idle Ingredients is the fourth Sin du Jour Affair by Matt Wallace.
Greedy Pigs: A Sin du Jour Affair by Matt Wallace
The Sin du Jour crew caters to the Shadow Government in Greedy Pigs, Matt Wallace's fifth Sin du Jour Affair
“I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.”
Politics is a dirty game. When the team at Sin du Jour accidentally caters a meal for the President of the United States and his entourage, they discover a conspiracy that has been in place since before living memory. Meanwhile, the Shadow Government that oversees the co-existence of the natural and supernatural worlds is under threat from the most unlikely of sources.
It’s up to one member of the Sin du Jour staff to prevent war on an unimaginable scale.
Between courses, naturally.
My To Be Read Pile
Sonali Dev’s book (featured in ‘My To Be Read Pile’- May 2017 article) led me to other Indian-American stories. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon is a Young Adult romance I can’t wait to dig into. Check it out and let me know what you think.
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
A New York Times bestseller
“Effervescent.” —Chicago Tribune
“Full of warm characters and sweet romance.” —Entertainment Weekly
“Get ready to fall in love with Dimple Shah and Rishi Patel.” —Hello Giggles
“Deliciously quirky, funny, and nerdy.” —Bustle
“Utterly delightful.” —BookRiot
“Heartwarming, empathetic, and often hilarious—a delightful read.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
The rom-com that everyone’s talking about! Eleanor & Park meets Bollywood in this hilarious and heartfelt novel about two Indian-American teens whose parents conspire to arrange their marriage.
Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?
Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.
The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.

I have a confession to make. I’m a time traveler. I love flinging myself into the future, then hurtling fast to an alternative past. In my usual time-space-dimension, I’m a mechanical engineer and business woman. So, I have a natural penchant for hover cars and steam or aether powered engines. Though I was born in the wrong era, I’m actually a child of the sixties – 1860, 1960, 2060.
My stories feature strong women, who know how to wield their minds like weapons. Their men are smart and often controlling….but, rest assured, my female leads give them a run for their money. They strive to follow their hearts and dreams for the betterment of themselves and their loved ones. Like my life, all of my stories feature a diverse cast of characters.
With my business partner, Therese Patrick, I work to demystify marketing principles for my author friends. Our first book, Author Marketing 101 Guide & Journal, was published by Gazebo Gardens Publishing and released in October 2013.
Steampunk, futurist, blerd, artist, author, and marketing maven…a real creative force of nature – that’s me in a nutshell.
