5 Most Memorable Cowboys By Carolyn Brown
I’m delighted to be back here at Night Owl Reviews today to talk about my newest cowboy release, The Trouble with Texas Cowboys. I love writing about sexy cowboys like Sawyer O’Donnell and sassy ladies, like Jill Cleary. Mixing up their personalities, especially when they have to share a bunkhouse and then work at the General Store plus the Burnt Boot Bar and Grill as well as do ranching work, was so much fun that I hated to see the book come to an end.
Today, I was asked to talk about my five most memorable cowboy characters. My first thought was that it would be difficult to limit it to five and since The Trouble with Texas Cowboys hit the bookstores two days ago, of course the first one on my list would have to be Sawyer O’Donnell. He’s done kissed the famous Blarney stone so he’s quite the talker. He’s full of fun and he kept me on my toes the whole time I wrote the book.
But then I started thinking back to my first cowboy love and that had to be Heath on Big Valley. If I’d ever met that man in real life, I would have had a fan moment for sure. There he was, the bastard son of the owner, living with his half siblings and their mother and trying to carve out a place for himself on the ranch. And he was so sexy, especially to a teenage girl who thought she wanted to write romance novels.
After that there were the Sacketts that Louis L’Amour wrote about. I read every one of his books and when Tom Selleck played Orrin Sackett in the movies they made from the books, I learned that modern day women could swoon.
Speaking of Tom Selleck, he also played the part of Matthew Quigley in Quigley Down Under and OMG, I fell in love with him all over again. He and Crazy Cora had to overcome every obstacle that Australia could throw at them in that movie and I watch it at least once a year. It’s a wonderful western romance movie.
And my newest heart throb is Raylan Givens from Justified. He’s a cowboy from the boots to his famous cowboy hat and I’m in love with him. Yes, you can tell my husband. He knows already. He’s okay with it and even watches Justified with me every week.
So there’s my lineup. Sawyer O’Donnell, Heath Barkley, Orrin Sackett, Matthew Quigley and Raylan Given, all lined up together side-by-side. Someone turn on the fans and get me a “hot flash” pill. I think I may swoon havin’ them all right there in front of me.
Who would make up your “lineup” of cowboy characters? Could you keep it to five or would the line extend from here on down the road a mile or two?
Can a girl ever have too many cowboys?
No sooner does pint-sized spitfire Jill Cleary set foot on Fiddle Creek Ranch than she finds herself in the middle of a hundred-year-old feud. Quaid Brennan and Tyrell Gallagher are both tall, handsome, and rich...and both are courting Jill to within an inch of her life. She's doing her best to give these feuding ranchers equal time-too bad it's dark-eyed Sawyer O'Donnell who makes her blood boil and her hormones hum...
