Nine Lives

Lifeline Book 1

"Nine Lives" is about Erin, a girl who sees things that shouldn’t be there—living shadows. She thinks she’s going crazy until she meets someone who also sees what she does, and she’s not sure if she should trust him or not.

I was really excited for this book. The synopsis was compelling and interesting. I really wanted to love it, but I just couldn’t.

I loved the main character Erin. She was a great heroine, very likeable and enjoyable, but the story itself was confusing. Sometimes I had no idea what was going on. I kept getting lost.

There were also tons of grammatical/punctuation errors. Sometimes I had to reread sentences because I didn’t understand them the first time around. The errors completely brought me out of the story, and I almost DNFed it, but I really liked the main character so I kept on.

Overall, this was an okay read. The characters were interesting, but the plot was just muddled and confusing.

Book Blurb for Nine Lives

Erin Stone is seeing things again. Last time this happened, she tried to kill someone.

As a college freshman, Erin just wants to forget her past and lead a normal life. However, meeting Sirian changes everything. Not only can he see the living shadows that Erin sees, Sirian possesses abilities that make Erin suspect he is not quite human. Even worse, Erin realizes that if the shadows are real, then the man she tried to kill might have been innocent ... and the darkness she saw in his eyes that night was responsible for the horrible things he tried to do to her.

In order to confront the past, she must first deal with a much more pressing threat—Sirian. Erin isn't sure if she is being rescued by Sirian or abducted by him, but she knows this much: she has fallen into the hands of a stranger who proves there is more than one kind of monster in this world. If Erin can survive her conflicted captor long enough to unravel the truth, she may be able to save herself—and the man she tried to kill.
